Consumers and Mobile Payments – The Global Segmentation

The world is becoming ever more mobile and this is having a major impact on the financial services industry. Over the last few years Ipsos has been studying consumers attitudes and usage of mobile payments. In 2012 we conducted a segmentation study based on results from work in 5 countries, and in 2014 we updated this based on a larger study among mobile device users in 24 countries. So what makes someone more likely than others to adopt mobile payment usage? What does the payments industry need to address in order to broaden appeal and increase adoption? And, what non-traditional, alternative payment methods are looming on the horizon?
