Australia’s Business Elite

Business-Man-Office-01Australia’s business leaders saw their salaries fall in 2013 but they maintained an average net worth of $1.7 million and bought more luxury items than the previous year, the annual “Business Elite” survey from research firm Ipsos MediaCT reveals.

The average executive salary in 2012 was $212,000 but in 2013 it dropped to $198,000, although the presence of women in the Business Elite increased slightly from 16% to 19% and young executives rose from 9% to 14%, the average business leader in Australia is a 47-year-old, tertiary-educated male, with men over 40 comprising 60% of the Business Elite audience.

The annual Business Elite survey, conducted by Ipsos MediaCT, is Australia’s largest survey of senior business decision makers. The survey provides an indicator of the purchase influence and media consumption habits of Australia’s top business leaders.
